Les Mères is a fine jewellery brand founded by Kim Harmsen, a Fashion and Branding graduate from Amsterdam who spent ten years as a Marketing and PR Director before the pull of her own creative vision became impossible to ignore. The brand is built around something specific: the power of the sea, the symbolism of the pearl, and the emotional depth of motherhood. Every piece is crafted in recycled sterling silver with gold plating, with pearls sourced from a sustainable family farm. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, and some are customisable.

Les Mères works in recycled sterling silver with gold plating, with pearls sourced from a sustainable family farm chosen for their quality and the brand's close relationship with its producers. Pearls are central, not only as a decorative material but as a symbolic one, representing rebirth and carrying what Kim describes as a great deal of emotion. The design language sits between statement and everyday: bold enough to stand out, considered enough to be worn with meaning rather than occasion. The Classic Pearl Earring, Kim's first design and still the brand's bestseller, captures that balance precisely. Production is small-scale and intentional, with packaging made from recycled paper and no plastic throughout.

Kim Harmsen did not arrive at jewellery through design training, but through ten years of building someone else's brand before deciding it was time to build her own. Armed with the skills and connections accumulated across a decade in marketing and PR, she founded Les Mères with a clear emotional foundation: motherhood, the sea, and the belief that jewellery should carry meaning well beyond the moment it is bought.

The pearl selection process, working directly with a sustainable family farm, choosing each stone by hand, remains one of the most rewarding parts of the work. Les Mères sits in a precise and underserved position in the market: statement jewellery that is genuinely designed to last, without the basic styles that heirloom jewellery so often defaults to.

Our pearls symbolise rebirth, and therefore are seen as treasures that hold a lot of emotion.
