AKVA Jewellery: With the ocean as the source of inspiration

AKVA Jewellery was founded in Copenhagen in 2018, when the three friends Tascha, Cecilie and Olivia decided make what started as a school project into a fine jewellery brand. The three were united by a fascination of the ocean, which remains the main inspiration behind their sculptural designs, as well as a desire to design unique and long lasting jewellery, and a commitment to creating sustainably.
Today, they craft each piece by hand in their Copenhagen workshop - located in The Jewellery Room’s headquarters on Bredgade 35, still with a commitment to doing good in the world, and designing the pieces their customers dream of.

The opening edit

It was at the very early days of AKVA, that we knew they were special. Their passion and love for organic shapes is unlike anything else in our Room.

AKVA's design language is drawn entirely from the ocean — its energy, its movement, its organic forms. Curved lines, delicate details, and an exploratory, playful aesthetic that finds new inspiration in and around the sea with every collection. The pieces carry an abstract quality that rewards closer looking: shapes that initially read as simple but reveal unexpected detail on the hand or at the ear.

The three founders describe it as a mission - to create high quality jewellery in unique shapes and with abstract details that awaken curiosity - ultimately with the goal of creating pieces that will be inherited for generations to come.

**For the three founders, ** AKVA Jewelry began as a project focused on the UN's 14th Sustainable Development Goal:  life below water.

That starting point gave the brand both its creative direction and its driving conviction: that the ocean is worth protecting, and that jewellery can be a way of communicating that.

Cecilie, Olivia, and Tascha  came together around a shared love of the sea and a shared belief th-at making responsibly and making beautifully are not in contradiction. Since 2018, they have built a production model that is as local as possible without compromising on quality: casting in Germany, finishing by hand in Copenhagen, sourcing diamonds directly from a supplier in West Africa with no unethical intermediaries involved.

We have a mission to create high quality jewellery in unique shapes and with abstract details that will awaken your curiosity. We hope the AKVA pieces can be inherited for generations — Cecilie, Olivia and Tascha.

We met AKVA before they were even a real brand, at an event at jewellery design school — and when they launched, we were the very first to bring them into our Room. Their world comes from the sea: seaweed, movement, things pulled from underwater. It's there in every piece, in gold and silver alike — organic shapes, fine ridges rippling through the metal as if stretched by the current. Nothing else in our portfolio looks like it.

AKVA Jewelry was founded with sustainability at its core — rooted in a project focused on the UN's 14th Sustainable Development Goal for life below water. Every piece is cast in recycled precious metals at Kalman Hafner in Germany and finished by hand in the brand's Copenhagen workshop. Diamonds are exclusively Fairtrade and conflict-free, sourced through Sequoyah, who maintains direct contact with suppliers in West Africa to ensure no unethical intermediaries are involved. Packaging is also considered throughout, and the brand holds itself to EU standards across every aspect of production.
