Anklet size guide
Wondering about what size and style anklet would suit you the best? In this guide, we hope to tell you all you need to know about anklet sizes, types, and how to measure your ankle for the right fit.
The look and feel you are aiming for
When buying an anklet online, the first thing to consider is the desired fit — how snug or loose do you want it to be.
Anklet sizes vary, as they can be worn loose, tight or with the exact fit depending on your preferred style. We recommend not choosing it to tight, as your movements throughout the day can cause it to break.
Loose-fit anklets should hang just below the ankle bone. Any size looser than that can be annoying as they may slip below your heel and trip you up in midstep.
You can get your best fit by adding the following to your measured ankle size:
Anklet styling tip: To layer three of your adjustable anklets together, just wear them sung, comfort and loose.
The perfect Anklet size for different styles and looks
Remember the rule for styling accessories is: that there are no rules! The first thing is to have fun and wear who you are. You have our permission to enjoy wearing your anklet just the way you like it!
Based on the vast collection of designer anklets we carry here at The Jewellery Room, we have put together two basic styles and sizing tips for each. The classic chain anklets. This type is usually in gold, sterling silver, or rhodium or gold plated chains that have a lobster or a T-bar/toggle clasp and are therefore adjustable by a few centimetres.
If your measured size falls in the small range, go for the closest match in the lower range. On the other hand, medium to large ankle sizes should wear the upper anklet size limit.
Gemstone, beaded and charm anklets are also step-up versions of plain chain ones and are therefore adjustable. Some of our adjustable cord anklets also come with lovely charms and precious gemstones.
Choose the upper size range closest to your ankle snug-fit size.
Ready to pick the right anklet size? Depending on which look you are opting for, you can find inspiration for your perfect anklet from our anklet size chart above.

Online anklet size charts show the total anklet circumference measured in either centimetres or inches (1" = 2.5 cm). There are two easy ways to measure your comfort-fit ankle size.
Check the length of your favourite anklet
Step 1: Place your open anklet on a table
Step 2: Using the centimetre/inch edge of a ruler, measure from the outer edge of the clasp to the other end of the anklet.
Measure your ankle using a string or a flexible measuring tape
Step 1: Wrap a flexible tape measure/string around your ankle and over your ankle bone.
