Helgstrand Jewellery: Where the equestrian world meets Scandinavian fine jewellery

Dressage rider Marianne Helgstrand founded her jewellery brand from one single desire - to create a to create an elegant brooch for dressage competition that felt both functional and genuinely beautiful, inspired by her grandmother's brooch that had accompanied Marianne's show clothing for years.
From that starting point back in 2015, Marianne has established herself as a jewellery designer both in Denmark, where she is based, and internationally, releasing collections inspired by her world - the world of dressage and horses - using the finest metals and diamonds, sterling silver and cubic zirconia.

Helgstrand Fine Jewellery works in 14k and 18k recycled gold set with certified white brilliant-cut diamonds - longside a sterling silver series with cubic zirconia. All gemstones are of natural origin and purchased from conflict-free sources.

The designs are discreetly inspired by the shapes of equestrian equipment: bridles, bits, and the refined hardware of the dressage world translated into clean, timeless jewellery forms that appeal equally to those who know the references and those who simply appreciate the elegance of the result. Collections including Prima Donna, Matiné, Lorenzo, Sitana, Fiontini, Revolution, D'avie, and Adriano are each named after horses of personal significance to Marianne and her family. The Sitana collection - inspired by the double bridle used only at the highest levels of dressage - is among the most iconic.

Marianne Helgstrand grew up in northern Jutland, close to Aalborg, fascinated by horses from childhood. Together with her husband, Olympic bronze medallist Andreas Helgstrand, she co-founded Helgstrand Dressage in 2009 - now considered the world's leading sales and training centre for elite dressage horses.

It was in that world — walking through tack rooms, watching competitions, living daily alongside equestrian equipment — that the ideas for Helgstrand Fine Jewellery took shape. "I find the process of getting an idea, sketching it, and seeing the finished piece of jewellery absolutely fantastic," she says. "It feels just like Christmas Eve to sit with my own design and see all the details in a piece of jewellery." The first complete collection launched in December 2015. New designs arrive two to three times per year.

It was very important for me to create something elegant, timeless and unique - and even though many of the creative designs aspired to become a reality, it took some courage to make the leap to become entrepreneur.

Marianne, the energy behind Helgstrand, is pure fireworks — passion for jewellery that's impossible to miss. Her background in dressage runs through every collection: reins, stirrups, bit details, all taken from the riding world and reworked, minimised, into jewellery. You don't need to know anything about dressage to find the pieces beautiful. We visited Marianne and the brand in North Jutland, and the whole universe is considered down to the smallest detail.
