Let your creativity run free
Maria Black
Maria Black is known for her bold and sculptural jewellery that fuses artistic expression with wearable design. Every piece she creates is a meeting point between tradition and innovation—modern silhouettes shaped with timeless craftsmanship. Founded in Copenhagen in 2010 by the eponymous designer and trained goldsmith, the brand has since expanded to over 30 global markets.
With a deeply rooted ethos of creativity and care, Maria Black crafts jewellery that reflects individuality and invites personal interpretation. Each design is more than an accessory—it is a statement of self, shaped by intention and emotion.

Inclusive ethos
Sets them apart
At Maria Black, creativity is both a value and a process. The brand operates as a multidisciplinary design studio, where every piece is imagined and developed in-house in Copenhagen. The seasonal silver collections are known for their edgy, fashion-forward identity, while the permanent 14K gold piercing range showcases craftsmanship with contemporary flair.
This diversity allows the team to constantly innovate, experiment, and evolve. The result is a dynamic collection of jewellery that captures the essence of modern life—expressive, individual, and always evolving. The team’s fearlessness in testing unconventional ideas sets the brand apart in a crowded field.
Designed with responsibility in every detail
Ethical Standards
Sustainability is integral to Maria Black’s design philosophy. All collections are crafted using 100% recycled 14K gold and sterling silver, with lab-grown diamonds replacing mined alternatives. This conscious approach dramatically reduces CO₂ emissions, toxic waste, and energy use—while also protecting wildlife habitats and local communities from the effects of traditional mining. Every choice made in the supply chain is guided by respect—for people, planet, and the future. Maria Black is dedicated to leaving a positive legacy, proving that ethical responsibility and high design can beautifully coexist.

“...jewellery are small wearable sculptures that represent an eternal investment, we are insanely proud to contribute to the Danish design heritage…”
Everyday Inspiration, Timeless Quality
Materials and Craftmanship
With a goldsmith’s hand and an artist’s eye, Maria Black balances refined materials with sharp design thinking. Her jewellery is crafted to the highest standards using pearls, recycled metals, and lab-grown diamonds—all chosen for durability, purity, and ethical origin.
Drawing inspiration from everyday objects, human connection, and cultural subtexts, each piece tells its own story. The jewellery is hypoallergenic and made for long-term wear, offering both beauty and resilience. Every detail—whether a curve, clasp, or setting—is carefully considered to ensure it feels just as good as it looks.

Thoughts on
Social Responsibility
Maria Black is a brand that wants to “do good and be good to others”. This is emphasised by the way they source, create and present jewellery with quality, economic and social governance in mind.
This brand puts in a huge effort not to greenwash. They have a deliberate strategy to avoid words like ‘sustainable’ and ‘eco-friendly’ because anything you create is not sustainable for the planet. Instead, they aim to play a part in changing the narrative in the jewellery industry, from opaque to transparent, making sure all links in their supply chain benefits. One way is to live up to their responsibilities through longstanding relations with their team in India by paying the right price—not the lowest price for the craft.
Through extensive research, analysis and planning Maria Black built the base of the brand’s sourcing commitment. She developed the gold sourcing program (GSP) with the Fairtrade Foundation. Through GSP, Maria Black built a way to incorporate Fairtrade gold into their production. Maria Black supports Fairtrade miners with 30% of the entire production and the rest through recycled gold and silver. In 2021 the brand changed the diamonds used in their designs to Lab-grown diamonds.
“We want to treat people and the planet with respect, inclusion and acceptance to leave a positive legacy. We want to give as much as our brand can. We believe that we are responsible for everything we put into this world and we will not compromise our quality or sourcing commitment.”
