"Designing a cocktail ring means keeping that rebellious, theatrical, and fiercely elegant spirit alive."
There is history behind that freedom, too, cocktail rings were born in the 1920s during Prohibition, worn by women as a declaration of independence.
"Designing a cocktail ring means keeping that rebellious, theatrical, and fiercely elegant spirit alive."
A bold ring does something a necklace or earrings cannot in the warmer months. It asks nothing of the rest of your outfit.
"A bold, oversized ring instantly transforms a simple outfit into a statement look," Marine says — exactly the kind of low-effort, high-impact dressing summer calls for. Worn solo on the index or middle finger, with the rest of the hand bare or kept to dainty bands, it becomes the obvious focal point. It works equally well elevating a classic little black dress or a simple white shirt and jeans.
If you are shopping for a cocktail ring, Marine's advice is practical rather than purely aesthetic.
"The most crucial factor is comfort and proportion," she says. "By definition, a cocktail ring is top-heavy and voluminous. If it is poorly balanced, it will constantly spin on your finger or feel uncomfortable to wear. Make sure the band is sturdy enough to support the central setting and that the fit is perfectly snug."
" It's about showing pearls in a way that feels natural, modern, and easy to live in."
When asked to choose a favourite, Marine hesitates - she simply cant just choose one, but three pieces from the collection show the range of what a cocktail ring can be.
The QUADRA ring is hyper-graphic and minimalist, with a baguette-cut tourmaline stretching across the width of the finger.
The PARFUM ring is inspired by her mother's perfume bottle, with lines that originally recalled Chanel No. 5 — an open ring in a modern take on the toi et moi style, delicately set with diamonds.
The MAHARANI ring, shaped after an Indian palace door, sets a raised olive quartz within a gradient of diamonds Marine describes as mimicking the effervescence of champagne bubbles.
For anyone looking for one piece to carry an entire summer look, a cocktail ring is the answer Marine has spent her career making the case for.
