Meet Angèle Brousse: Building a jewellery house on her own terms

For Angéle Brousse,  the path to becoming a jewellery designer wasn’t a straight or an easy one - she took a while to get there.

Before founding her eponymous fine jewellery brand known for its’ lace-like designs, Angèle spent years working in the luxury sector. But once it became clear to her that jewellery was her calling, she decided to put in the work: she did research and taught herself how to make jewellery, while surrounding herself with industry professionals who could guide her along the way.

Today, this Parisian designer runs her own brand from a creative vision that she never compromises with, and her signature-like aesthetic is instantly recongnisable - lace-like, highly detailed and feminine.

We sat down with Angèle to hear more about her path to jewellery, her design language, and what’s next for the brand.

You taught yourself jewellery design. How did that happen?

"I've always been fascinated by precious objects and by how a piece of jewellery can stand the test of time and carry a story. After a traditional academic background, I worked in the luxury sector, maintaining a strong connection to the creative world. Driven by a deep love for drawing and creation, I taught myself the craft of jewellery design, surrounding myself with professionals in the field and learning through hard work, research, and a pragmatic approach."

What is the secret of your brand?

"The secret of my brand probably lies in the fusion of timeless elegance with contemporary boldness. I love creating jewellery that has a soul, that tells a story, and reveals the personality of the person wearing it. What sets me apart is my signature style, which is highly detailed, almost lace-like, giving each piece a subtle yet distinctive radiance."

How would you describe the design DNA of the brand?

"The design DNA of Angèle Brousse is fine, delicate jewellery where every detail matters. My creations blend vintage, almost retro inspiration with a confident modernity. There's always a subtle rock or glamorous twist that breaks away from pure classicism. Openwork motifs, a lace-like aesthetic, and the use of 18-carat gold and diamonds are emblematic of my brand."

What do you love most about the creation process?

"What I love most is the moment when a drawing comes to life. Seeing my sketches transform into real pieces crafted in metal and precious stones is magical. I also deeply enjoy the aesthetic and technical research required to strike the perfect balance between design, comfort, and durability."

"I believe my brand stands out for its ability to be both highly feminine and a little rebellious. "

Is there a piece from your own collection that feels most personal?

"Without hesitation, I would say the Gina Star ring, an iconic piece from my collections. Its square shape embodies strength, stability, and poise, while also evoking the cardinal points, the seasons, and the elements, infusing a sense of balance. Its gently rounded edges bring softness, sensuality, and poetry, inviting a reconnection with oneself and one's emotions. The marquise shapes symbolize openness to the world; horizontally, they recall the shape of an eye, a window to the soul and emotions. Historically, marquise cuts were crafted in the 18th century to mimic the shape of feminine lips, capturing the beauty of a smile. It's a piece that can be worn alone to assert one's character or stacked for a more layered look, appealing to those seeking a jewel that is simultaneously strong, elegant, and deeply symbolic."

Who do you design for?

"My typical client is an independent, elegant woman who loves fashion without blindly following trends. She appreciates original yet timeless pieces that express her individuality."

What does jewellery mean to the person wearing it?

"I believe my brand stands out for its ability to be both highly feminine and a little rebellious. These are not merely decorative pieces but jewels that highlight the identity and confidence of the wearer. Every piece is designed to feel like a second skin."

What do you dream about?

"I dream of opening a flagship store in a major capital city, where I could not only showcase my collections but also create an experiential space dedicated to jewellery."

Angèle Brousse built her house without a conventional path to lean on, just a vision, a deep love of craft, and an unwillingness to do things anyone else's way. Her pieces are all produced by an RJC-certified European atelier in 18k gold and diamonds - in the signature look that is so distinctive and unique for her.
