Here is our guide on how to clean different types of jewellery at home and how to store them properly.

How to clean gold jewellery

Gold jewellery is one of the most popular types of jewellery and is known for its durability and long-lasting shine. To keep your gold jewellery looking its best, you can clean it by soaking it in warm water with a mild detergent. After soaking, use a soft cloth or a baby toothbrush to gently scrub the jewellery, paying particular attention to any crevices or areas that are hard to reach. Rinse the jewellery thoroughly under warm water and dry it with a soft cloth. There are also special jewellery polishing cloths available which are excellent to treat your beloved gold and silver pieces to some tender loving and care.

How to clean silver jewellery

Silver jewellery is extremely popular and known for its elegance and affordability. However, silver tends to be a softer metal than gold so make sure to be very gentle when cleaning silver pieces. To clean your silver jewellery, you may use a silver cleaning cloth or soft cloth plus warm water and a very mild dish soap. Dip the cloth into the solution and gently rub the jewellery to remove any dirt or tarnish. Rinse your jewellery thoroughly under warm water and dry it with a soft cloth.

How to clean diamonds and semi-precious stones

Sparkling and oh so beautiful diamonds are one of the most precious stones and require extra special care to keep them looking their best. To clean your diamond jewellery, you can soak it in a solution of warm water and mild dish soap for about 20-30 minutes. After soaking, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the jewellery, paying particular attention to the diamond itself. Rinse the jewellery thoroughly under warm water and dry it with a soft cloth.

In addition to cleaning your jewellery regularly, there are a few other things you should keep in mind to keep your jewellery looking its best:

💎Avoid wearing your jewellery in water, especially chlorine and saltwater, which can damage and tarnish your jewellery.

💎Remove your jewellery before exercising or doing any strenuous activity that could damage it.

💎Store your jewellery in a dry and cool place, away from sunlight and humidity, which can cause damage and tarnishing. It's best to invest in a jewellery box with various compartments to prevent dangling and scratches. Need recommendations? We have got you covered! 👇🏻
