Description

By casting a baroque pearl in metal, the Perola necklace will provide the protection warded by its shape. A pearl represents knowledge and femininity, things that must not be hidden away. Available in recycled sterling silver with 18ct gold plating or in recycled sterling silver. Handmade and finished in our London studio using the lost wax casting method.

The brand story

Carolina De Barros was always a creative soul, but her career started on a very different part of the creative spectrum as she worked in film production.

When she eventually started to take jewelry evening courses, she brought the parts of her job that she really loved, like storytelling and visual composition, into her creations. She describes it as stepping into a new world - she instantly fell in love with the artform of making jewelry and how meaningful it felt. Today, she runs her brand from London, with each piece made to order.

A house of craft

Carolina De Barros is a London-based fine jewelry brand founded by its namesake designer, a former film producer who came to jewelry through curiosity and never looked back. Every piece is made to order in Carolina's London studio, handcrafted in 100% recycled precious metals sourced from RJC-certified suppliers and cast by a family-run workshop that has passed its goldsmithing knowledge down through generations. Carolina’s focus is on designs, developed slowly and without seasonal pressure.

Carolina De Barros works primarily in wax, an ancient technique that allows organic shapes to emerge naturally through carving and sculpting by hand. The resulting pieces are tactile, imperfect, and one-of-a-kind in the truest sense: no two wax carvings are identical, which means no two finished pieces are either. The references are specific: Barbara Hepworth, Louise Bourgeois, Tarsila do Amaral, and that lineage shows in the sculptural weight and quiet confidence of every design. Nature is a constant presence: in the fluidity of form, the organic textures, the sense that each piece has grown rather than been constructed.
