ASTERA Studio: A Constellation You Never Take Off

ASTERA Studio designs petite diamond jewelry around a single idea: diamonds as points of light. These are pieces designed to live on the body every day. A diamond chain worn with a T-shirt. A stack of huggies added to over time. Fine jewelry without the ceremony that usually comes with it. The name comes from the Greek "aster," meaning star, though nothing here is shaped like one. It's the diamonds themselves that take on that role, scattered, suspended, and slightly at odds with the metal around them.

The opening edit

ASTERA is diamonds pierced rather than prong-set in tiny pieces. A technique we had never seen before. The diamond huggies soon became customer favourites

At ASTERA, the diamond is never decoration. It is the design itself, and the gold is kept deliberately minimal so the stone can stand largely on its own. Because each diamond is pierced rather than set in the usual way, it isn't anchored to anything beneath it. Freed from a fixed setting, it catches light from every angle and appears larger than its actual size, swinging gently with movement, turning as though it were dancing rather than hanging still. Some pieces carry a single diamond threaded through a chain this way. Others carry two or three, spaced so each one moves independently rather than as a cluster. The more diamonds, the more the piece reads as a small constellation rather than one focal stone. Earrings follow the same logic, never quite finished on their own, designed to be added to across multiple piercings, so the arrangement becomes something the wearer builds rather than something fixed by the design.

It would have been easy to take the name literally, with a celestial vocabulary of moons and star charms. ASTERA takes the opposite approach, understated rather than romantic, closer to Parisian nonchalance meeting Copenhagen stacking than to formal fine jewelry.

ASTERA is diamonds, distilled.

I was obsessed with the diamonds hanging from ASTERA's jewelry — set not in prongs, but pierced straight through the stone. Nude diamonds. Something I had genuinely never seen before. Nothing else in our portfolio comes close. The Vivre pieces, with one or three diamonds, are the ones everyone asks for. I'm a huge fan myself.
