Christine Hvelplund is a Copenhagen-based fine jewelry brand founded by its namesake designer — a woman who came to jewelry not through formal training, but through years spent working alongside her husband at his high-end watch and jewelry store in the centre of Copenhagen. It was there that her eye for stones developed, beginning with trading loose diamonds before the pull of design became impossible to resist.
That diamond background is fundamental to everything Christine makes. Every single piece in the collection contains a diamond — not as decoration, but as the starting point.
"I never design anything that doesn't have a diamond incorporated," she says. "It is the 'must' of every single piece I produce and love." The result is a body of work that is unmistakably feminine and modern — never the classic diamond piece, always something with a contemporary edge and a sense of personality that is entirely her own.
Craftsmanship, Personal Process & Signature Pieces
Christine Hvelplund pieces are crafted in solid gold, with diamonds that Christine handpicks personally — a level of involvement in stone selection that gives the collection a consistent quality and character that is hard to replicate. New designs arrive when inspiration strikes rather than according to a fixed schedule, which can mean several new pieces in a month or none for several months.
"I only design jewelry that I want to wear myself," Christine explains, "so when you purchase a piece of Christine Hvelplund jewelry, you purchase something that I have put my heart and soul into."
Standout pieces include the Conscious Collier — a statement piece Christine describes as "absolutely stunning" and a genuine dream buy — and the Flower earstick, a newer design that has already become a bestseller. Several pieces in the collection are named after Christine's three children, and her oldest daughter Naila models many of the campaigns and works within the brand — giving Christine Hvelplund a warmth and family character that customers respond to deeply.
Tradition and innovation or classic design with modern coolness? There are many ways to describe Christine’s latest Conscious collection. But one thing is certain: The collection is characterised by the Scandinavian coolness that has been nicknamed “Scandi style” and is admired by women all over the world. The same goes for her mesmerising “Fairytale” collection designed during the dark days that we passed through. These designs call for a change of perspective like finding flowers and butterflies in desperate times and in the unlikeliest places.
I never design anything that doesn’t have a diamond incorporated. It is the “must” of every single piece I produce and love… I try to show my customers, that the beautiful design and stunning diamonds are the same as always, despite what is going on in the world
Customer, Longevity & Brand Philosophy
The Christine Hvelplund customer is the independent woman who cares about quality and wants jewelry that lasts — but with a contemporary, feminine touch that keeps it from feeling traditional. Solid gold and diamonds are, by their nature, pieces you keep and pass on rather than discard, which Christine sees as the brand's quiet sustainability position: jewelry designed to be inherited, not replaced.
That personal investment — in the stones, in the design, in the family story running through the brand — is what brings Christine Hvelplund to The Jewellery Room. It is jewelry made by someone who only creates what she would wear herself, for customers who can feel exactly that when they put it on.
