The Visionary
Born in Denmark in 1936, Ole Lynggaard was a craftmaker, sculpting and drawing in close proximity to fine jewelry as his parents owned two fine jewelry stores.
After qualifying as a gold smith in 1957, Ole spent five years travelling the world; improving his skills, collecting inspiration, and forming the vision for what would eventually become his eponymous jewelry design house.
Upon his return to Denmark in 1963, he founded Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen together with his wife Karin - today an epitome of Danish jewelry design.
Karin would also become the very first owner of the now-iconic Elephant pendant.
An Icon Takes Shape
Ever since he was young, Ole Lynggaard was fascinated with elephants - with their majesticity and wisdom. The animal was an early inspiration when crafting the jewelry pieces for Ole, and he created the very first version of the elephant pendant in 1991.
The piece was gifted to his wife, Karin, for the couples' 25th wedding anniversary the same year, during a safari trip.
The Finest Family
Today, Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is one of the most renowned jewelry houses in the world, and a family affair - with the founding couple's daughter Charlotte and granddaughter Sofia also designing pieces for the brand.
For his 80th birthday in 2016, Ole Lynggaard was proud to introduce the collection of naturalistic elephant pendents.
The Elephant collection is now a family of five in different sizes, all crafted from 18 karat gold and crisp, white diamonds.
