Meet Michelle Massoura: Design guided by the customer
For Michelle Massoura, the customer was always a part of the vision.
For over a decade, this Cyprus-based designer has listened to her customers, paying close attention to their needs and wants, and built her world around the women she’s met in her showroom. Her pieces are more than just accessories - they are symbols of personal achievements, love, and individuality.
Previously trained at the Gemology Institute of America, Michelle now brings that technical foundation to pieces built around real stories rather than trends - using 18K gold, pearls and diamonds to create fun and unique pieces that'll want to keep for ever.
We are so excited that Michelle Massoura is a part of The Jewellery Room, and we sat down with her to talk about her deeply personal approach to the jewelry she designs.
What truly sets your brand apart?
"What truly sets my brand apart is that I draw inspiration directly from my customers. Over the past decade, working by appointment at my showroom has given me the invaluable opportunity of connecting at an emotional level with my customers who are remarkable women that inspire every aspect of my work. I love incorporating their desires and needs into my designs, crafting pieces that not only resonate with their personal style but also elevate and complement their lives in meaningful ways."
How did you end up in the jewelry industry?
"My journey into the jewelry industry began with a fascination for the artistry and craftsmanship of fine jewelry and the allure of gemstones. I was captivated by how jewelry could transform an outfit and express personal style. This passion led me to pursue studies in gemology at the Gemological Institute of America, where I deepened my knowledge of gems and their unique qualities. For me, jewelry is not just about adornment; it's about celebrating individuality, marking moments feel special, and making people feel extraordinary."
What do you love most about the creation process?
"What I love most about the jewelry creation process is that it truly is an art form, one that combines so many different skills, people, and elements. It begins with sketching a design on paper, then bringing it to life through 3D renderings and moving on to the intricate fabrication process, setting stones and refining every detail. It's a true labor of love. There's nothing more fulfilling than seeing a piece that once existed only in my imagination come to life, and even more so when it's worn by a customer who truly appreciates the vision behind it. That moment when a customer connects with a piece, understanding and appreciating the vision behind it, is truly magical and deeply rewarding to me."
"We view jewelry as more than adornment, it's a beautiful reminder of our milestones, self-worth, and the story of who we are, a roadmap to life's journey."
Is there a piece from your own collection you would recommend?
"I'd recommend the Pearl Duo Drop earrings, perfect for any season and any occasion. Whether you're walking down the aisle, heading to the office, or enjoying a date night, these earrings will elevate your look with effortless elegance. The baroque pearls, with their organic beauty and captivating imperfections, bring a distinctive charm and refined sophistication to each pair we create."
What does jewelry mean to the person wearing it?
"We view jewelry as more than adornment, it's a beautiful reminder of our milestones, self-worth, and the story of who we are, a roadmap to life's journey."
How often do you launch new designs?
"I typically launch new designs twice a year, but I also allow my creative process to guide me. Sometimes, inspiration strikes unexpectedly, and I'll release a new piece outside of my regular schedule. I believe in quality over quantity, so I focus on creating designs when I feel truly inspired, ensuring each piece is a reflection of the vision I have for my brand."
What's next for the brand?
"Here at Michelle Massoura, we're thrilled with the launch of our brand on The Jewellery Room, a website that truly celebrates the art of jewelry. Our launch will bring our designs to a broader audience and elevate our brand's presence and will make it easier for customers to build their collection and stay connected with the brand."
We feel so at home in the universe in Michelle Massoura and are so proud to have her join us in The Jewellery Room. Her pieces feel personal and special and make exceptional gifts - for her 50th birthday, our founder Pernille was gifted the Glimmer Initial Signet Ring from her friends, and she wears it nearly every day!
