Julie Sandlau: True luxury arises from integrity and consideration

Julie Sandlau is a Danish fine jewellery brand founded in 2002 by its namesake designer, whose minimalist yet elegant aesthetic has established her as a leading figure in the Scandinavian jewellery scene. Every piece is produced in the brand's own family-owned factory in Hanoi, Vietnam — a facility that has won the award for Best Workplace in Hanoi multiple times among over 1,000 companies in the district. Full ownership of the factory gives Julie Sandlau complete visibility and control over every stage of production, from stone selection to finished piece.

Julie Sandlau's design language is characterised by clean lines, exquisite craftsmanship, and a commitment to highlighting the natural beauty of the materials used. The main collection is crafted in recycled rhodium and 22k gold-plated 925 sterling silver, set with carefully chosen gemstones and crystals. The fine jewellery line works in 14k and 18k yellow and white gold, set with natural diamonds — each one hand-set by experienced goldsmiths for precision and lasting quality. Freshwater pearls are used throughout, selected to AAA quality for fine jewellery and AA quality for silver pieces, untreated and chosen from the top five percent of the annual harvest. Moonstone appears across collections, selected for colour, clarity, and natural adularescence — the soft, milky luminescence that moves across the surface like light from within. Four collections launch annually: Spring/Summer, High Summer, Autumn/Winter, and Christmas.

Julie Sandlau was founded in Copenhagen in 2002 with a clear design philosophy and an equally clear set of values — sustainability and respect for people as core commitments from the very beginning, not positions adopted later. Sandlau's designs are often described as modern luxury: contemporary in sensibility, rooted in a Scandinavian tradition of simplicity and purity, and crafted to be worn for any occasion from everyday to exceptional. In 2005, the brand established its own factory in Hanoi, with Corporate Social Responsibility as an absolute priority. Women lead at every level of the organisation — in 2024, women made up 72% of the total workforce, 83% of management, and 67% of the board. The factory has received UN Women WEPs Awards for both Leadership Commitment and Gender Equality in the Marketplace, and in 2024 completed its transition to 100% renewable electricity while recording zero workplace accidents

Every Julie Sandlau piece is crafted in 100% certified recycled gold and silver, produced in the brand's own factory in Hanoi — a facility that has been a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council since 2019, runs on 100% renewable electricity, fully offsets all CO₂ emissions, and recorded zero workplace accidents in 2024. All diamonds are Kimberley Process certified. Empowering women is foundational to how the factory operates: in 2024, women represented 72% of the workforce, 83% of management, and 67% of the board, supported by six months of paid maternity leave, regular health screenings, and trade union membership. The brand has received two UN Women WEPs Awards and counts 65% women-owned businesses among its suppliers.
