Jhaleh Aziz Rosenkrantz, a 33-year-old Tanzanian native, is the creative force behind the fine and high jewellery brand Rosenkrantz. Co-founded with her Danish husband in 2016 in Tanzania, Jhaleh brings a unique perspective to the world of jewellery design. Her deep connection to the land and its treasures, coupled with her family's long history in the Tanzanian mining industry, has shaped her passion for creating meaningful and ethically sourced jewellery. Jhaleh's vision goes beyond simply crafting beautiful pieces; it is about sharing the stories of the gemstones and the communities from which they originate.

Jhaleh's journey into the jewellery industry was a natural progression. Growing up surrounded by the brilliance of Tanzanian gemstones, her passion for design blossomed early. The rich landscapes of Africa and the abundance of raw materials serve as constant inspiration. Rosenkrantz's design DNA is defined by its rare access to extraordinary gemstones. Knowing the origin of each gem allows the brand to share its unique narrative with clients and positively impact the communities at the source. Rosenkrantz believes that gemstones carry powerful energy, and strives to ensure that energy reflects good — both in the beauty of the designs and in the lives touched along the way.

Rosenkrantz distinguishes itself through its intimate relationship with the source of its materials. Jhaleh's husband, with 15 years of experience mining gemstones across East Africa, has cultivated a network of trusted artisanal miners in Africa and beyond. This direct access allows Rosenkrantz to trace the journey of each gemstone, ensuring transparency and ethical practices. The brand's story is interwoven with the stories of the miners, the communities, and the unique gems themselves — offering clients not just exquisite jewellery, but a connection to something larger.

Danish-born Iver settled in Tanzania, where he looks for exceptional gemstones straight from the source. We met him and his wife Jhaleh in Denmark, where they told us about their passion for gemstones and elegant, classic design — spectacular, one-of-a-kind stones, pulled straight from their own backyard in Tanzania. Rosenkrantz was founded there in 2016; Jhaleh is fourth-generation Tanzanian with Iranian roots and the brand's Creative Director, while Iver brings the Danish dimension. Their world sits at the meeting point of African landscapes, Persian architectural references, and Danish design tradition.

Rosenkrantz traces every gemstone back to trusted artisanal miners across East Africa and beyond, ensuring transparency in a chain where over 80% of gemstones are mined by artisanal miners who often lose their identity along the value chain. The brand co-founded Africa's first all-female mine in 2018, empowering women in the industry.
