Informazioni su Georg Jensen

Georg Jensen joined us first at our CPHFW events. One of the most recognised names in our Room, and we're proud to still be working with them.

Un approccio unico

La storia del marchio

Georg Jensen grew up in Raadvad, north of Copenhagen, surrounded by forests and lakes that would become the primary inspiration for everything he made. He trained as both a goldsmith and a sculptor before opening his silversmith workshop in 1904 at the age of 37.

From the beginning, he rejected the romantic, historical, and ornamental decorations popular at the time, embracing instead the avant-garde forms of Art Nouveau - simple, organic, and rooted in skilled making. He had an extraordinary instinct for talent, building his workshop into a home for some of the most gifted silversmiths, goldsmiths, designers, and artists of his era. That tradition of collaboration has continued ever since - from Henning Koppel, Arne Jacobsen, and Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe to Patricia Urquiola, Marc Newson, and Zaha Hadid, each pushing the boundaries of what the house and the medium can be.

I fondatori

Una casa dedicata all’artigianato

Georg Jensen was one of the most significant design innovators of the 20th century. He established his fine jewellery and silversmith house in 1904, and that Copenhagen workshop became the very foundation for Scandinavian design as the world now understands it.
Today, his legacy lives on through his namesake design house, still headquartered in Copenhagen where its cultural heritage have been rooted for over a hundred years. Upon Jensen's death in 1935, the New York Herald Tribune described him as the greatest silversmith of the past 300 years.

Il DNA del design

Georg Jensen joined us first at our CPHFW events. One of the most recognised names in our Room, and we're proud to still be working with them.

Georg Jensen works in sterling silver and gold - sometimes combined, sometimes hammered, sometimes oxidised in the furrows to reveal depth and texture — set with diamonds and coloured gemstones chosen to complement the organic character of each design. The aesthetic draws entirely from nature: fruits, waves, leaves, and flowers recurring across collections as both motif and form. The interplay between soft and hard, silver and gold, gives the pieces a sculptural quality that feels artistic rather than purely decorative. Iconic collections including Marguerite, Mercy, Offspring, Fusion, and Moonlight Grapes remain among the most sought-after designs the house has ever produced. "Silver is the best material we have," Jensen said. "And silver has this wonderful lustre, like moonlight — a light taken directly from a Danish summer night."
