La historia de la marca

Heribert Engelbert founded his jewellery company in Stockholm in 1920, having begun his career as a salesman at Swedish jewellery firm Dahlgren & Co. His son Stig took over and founded the Stigbert studio in the late 1940s, pioneering a new era of Swedish art jewellery. When Stig died suddenly in 1962, his sons Lars and Peter — both trained goldsmiths with gemology studies in London — took the helm. Lars went to New York in 1965 to work for the prestigious Mario Buccellati; Peter followed, and together they opened their own office on Fifth Avenue in 1966. After five successful years in the American and European markets, the brothers returned to Sweden and refocused on the domestic market — establishing the brand's reputation for exclusive wedding and engagement jewellery that has defined it ever since. Oscar Engelbert, the fourth generation, opened the brand's flagship store in Stockholm in 2013, designed by Christian Halleröd with bubinga wood panels, oxidised brass details, and furniture by Pierre Jeanneret and Jean Prouvé.

Los fundadores

Una casa dedicada a la artesanía

Engelbert is one of Scandinavia's most storied fine jewellery houses, founded in Stockholm in 1920 by Heribert Engelbert and sustained across four generations of the same family. Today the brand is led by Oscar Engelbert, great-grandson of the founder, and creates fine jewellery, wedding rings, and engagement pieces in its Stockholm design studio and workshop. Head designer Thomas Carlsson has shaped the brand's creative vision since 1985, winning the prestigious De Beers Diamonds International Award in 1994 for an intricate diamond bracelet — a recognition that speaks to the level of craft Engelbert has always held itself to.

El ADN del diseño

Engelbert was one of our first designers at CPHFW, years ago. Sweden's proudest heritage house, best known for their knot rings.

Engelbert's aesthetic is characterised by organic shapes, spirited ideas, and a touch of Scandinavian simplicity — a design language that Thomas Carlsson has refined over four decades at the brand. The founding Stigbert era established a vocabulary of straight geometric forms, shiny surfaces, and faceted rock crystals that remains an influence today. Wedding and engagement jewellery — a category Engelbert pioneered in northern Europe during the 1970s, when plain gold bands were still the norm — sits at the heart of the collection, crafted in the Stockholm workshop in diamonds and precious gemstones. Fine jewellery pieces extend that same sensibility: elegant, considered, and built to last a lifetime.
