Marie-Louise Joensen is the jewellery designer behind MARYLOU JEWELLERY.
Marie-Louise has had a dream about becoming a goldsmith since she was a small child. A family friend inspired her and taught her some techniques. She later opened her own jewellery shop, where Marie-Louise started working.
Marie-Louises jewellery experience startet in 9th grade, where she was an intern in a jewellery shop, where she kept on working afterwards.
She moved to London, where she took a course in wax techniques, then she applied for the Metaleducation in Copenhagen Technical School, where she afterwards took the foundation in goldsmithing. During her time on the Goldsmith school, she started up her company.
She has been taking courses in stone setting to become more advanced within those skills.
Marie-Louise likes to mix and match jewellery, so she doesn’t make a full collection, but the jewellery designs are connected.
She exclusively works in pure metal, whereas the main part is made in 14 or 18kt gold, but also in Sterling silver. Furthermore she loves gemstones and enjoys playing around with colours.
‘The greatest part of the job, is making and creating memories for people. It is a huge honour’ Marie-Louise says.
