Jewellery Talk with Sara Robertsson
Sara Robertsson is on everyone's lips right now. Handpicked by Browns the upcoming jewellery designer has caught the eye of fashion aficionados with her one-of-kind silver creations. We met with the Swedish jewellery darling to hear about her journey from womenswear designer to one of the hottest names in the jewellery and fashion world at the moment.
Sara Robertsson is 37 years old and originally worked as a womenswear designer, but when she was offered a position as Accessories Designer at Weekday she found a new passion changing fabrics with metals.
Why did you choose to become a jewellery designer? I discovered that there is something about working with jewellery which struck a chord inside me and I simply felt so at home. It was a gradual transition away from designing clothes but in the end a very natural process.
Describe the design DNA of Sara Robertsson Jewellery? Flowing shapes meet edge and clean cut lines in an organic minimalist style.
What do you dream about? Being able to continue doing what I want, and one day having my own garden.
Describe a perfect day for you? A day when I feel inspired and balanced and get to spend time both being creative but also with the people I love. And a day when I am close to nature somehow, for example on my allotment or in the country side.
Do you have a crazy habit? I do have a hard time getting rid of things, and love flea markets at the same time which appear to be a bad combination… I always seem to have many (beautiful of course) things but not enough room. Thankfully I have become much more selective over the years though.
What is your guilty pleasure? Potato chips, I could eat it every day.
What is your must-have jewellery? My ARC ring I wear almost every day and my new DROP earrings coming up will definitely be a new everyday favourite. But of course also a sculptural statement earring!
Do you have something you can’t live without? Many things - the people I love, nature, and creativity.
What would your occupation be if you weren't a jewellery designer? A gardener.
What is your biggest moment in your jewellery career? It must be when BROWNS contacted me and wanted to start to work with my jewellery, They were my first retailer and I’m very proud of being part of their selection.
What would you do if you won a million dollars? Many things! Invest in my brand of course. Give back to my loved ones who in different ways have made it possible for me to pursue my dream. And, buy a summer house with a garden where I could have my studio during the summers. And, I would definitely also travel to Tokyo and the Japanese countryside with my boyfriend which is something we have dreamt of for a long time.
